Mystery surrounds body found on side of highway

Premium Content Subscriber only Investigations are continuing into how a 34-year-old Gladstone man came to be deceased on the side of the Bruce Highway at Midgee in February. Emergency services were called to the highway, near the intersection of Moglino Road, around 1.40am, after reports of a man’s body found on the side of the road. The man’s car, a blue sedan, was located parked a short distance up the road, just metres from where his body was found. Police have not been able to reveal the cause of the man’s death at this stage. It is believed he was struck by a vehicle.

Investigations ongoing into death in Norman Gardens

The spokesman said police had not charged anyone over the alleged incident as of Monday morning. A 51-year-old man had allegedly sustained a single stab wound to his chest. Police fine Rocky drivers doubling speed limit

Premium Content Subscriber only Queensland police issued 524 speeding fines in the 24 hours to midnight on Thursday, including three drivers on Yaamba Road at Rockhampton travelling more than 60km/hr over the speed limit. At 8.45pm a 19-year-old Rockhampton man driving a Ford Falcon was detected travelling at 141km/hr in a 70 zone, and at 10.46pm a 20-year-old Rockhampton man driving a Subaru was travelling 125km/hr in a 60 zone. Both men received a $1245 traffic infringement notice with eight demerit points and a six-month licence suspension. At 10pm a 38-year-old Rockhampton man driving a Holden Commodore was served a notice to appear for drink driving (.082 blood-alcohol content reading) and speeding at 133km/hr in a 70 zone.

Central Qld drug busts: seven people charged with 19 offences

Premium Content Subscriber only Gracemere police and specialist police from Rockhampton executed four search warrants on properties in Gracemere on Thursday. Police located and seized a large quantity of MDMA (ecstasy), methamphetamines, and cash. Three men and four women have been charged with 19 offences including possessing dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs, and weapons offences. A 54-year-old Gracemere man, a 29-year-old Gracemere woman, 24-year-old Rockhampton woman, and 44-year-old Rockhampton man will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on April 19. Then a 28-year-old Gracemere man, 40-year-old Gracemere woman, and 32-year-old Gracemere woman will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on April 23.
