During the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Jasper Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday evening, the head of the Rowe Alumni Association, Steve Adams, submitted a sealed bid on behalf of the group to purchase the old J.H. Rowe School.
Adams was joined by former Jasper City Councilman Rashad Lewis and he explained to the board that Rowe Alumni wished to ââ¦not only preserve the history of the school, but we would love to create a prep school that would teach kids real life activities.â
Later, Lewis described their plans to create an educational facility that would be a college preparatory school, and also similar to a vocational-technical school, teaching life skills and subjects such as agriculture and mechanics.
MT. PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) - Mt. Pleasant police arrested two Racine men after a stabbing incident Saturday, May 8.
According to police, officers responded to the 100 block of S. East Frontage Road for a reported shooting at 12:10 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers learned the involved parties fled the area. Police later identified the suspects as Antonique Carter, 26, and Rashad Lewis, 30, both from Racine.
Police say the investigation determined that a verbal altercation escalated when Carter accessed a knife and stabbed Lewis. Both subjects then fled the scene.
Around 6 a.m., police say officers responded back to the area of Hospitality and East Frontage for a suspicious activity complaint. Police say Carter and Lewis were located inside a car. Carter was arrested and Lewis was transported to a local hospital for a non-life threatening stab wound. Once released from the hospital, officials say Lewis was then arrested.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth Detectives are attempting to locate a missing teen.
Detectives say they are searching for 16-year-old Rashad Pierre Lewis, of Suffolk. They say he was last seen on April 15 at the Walmart located at 1908 Fredrick Boulevard.
Officials say he is a frequent visitor of Portsmouth and Suffolk.

The City of Jasper website reports that a total of 143 votes were cast during the first three days of early voting in the Municipal Election. Voters are considering a new Mayor for Jasper, and also a contested race for a council seat.
Early voting began on Monday and will end on Tuesday, April 17th at Jasper City Hall, followed by Election Day on Saturday, May 1st.

In the race for Mayor, the current Mayor, Gary Gatlin, opted to not seek re-election. Three candidates are vying for that spot. They are former Mayor Randy Sayers, former District 1 Councilman Rashad Lewis, and newcomer to politics, Bowe Limbrick, who is a write-in candidate.
