New Delhi: Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday announced that the Rail Roko Andolan will take place on February 18 (Thursday) from 12 pm to 4 pm across the country. Notably, the Rail Roko Andolan has been called amidst protest by the farmer groups against the Centre s new agri laws.

IANS, Tikait said that the Centre has removed other restrictions but not permitted many trains to ply for the last eight months. He added that due to the Centre’s decision, people were facing various difficulties.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday announced that the farmer groups protesting against the Centre s new farm laws will be holding a rail roko (railway blockade) across the country on Thursday. The protest will be staged from 12 pm to 4 pm.
A release issued by Northern Railway said that due to the farmers agitation in Punjab, the Darbhanga-Amritsar Express special train, which was to start on Wednesday, will remain cancelled.
The protest will be staged from 12 PM to 4 PM. The BKU leader, who has been spearheading the farmers’ agitation, said the people from their villages will also take part in the protest. He added that adequate arrangements have been made for the children travelling by the trains.

New Delhi [India], February 17 (ANI): Alleging that a party is sending its members to farmers protest and spreading propaganda about the farm laws, BJP s national Kisan morcha president Rajkumar Chahar on Wednesday urged common farmers to refrain from participating in the proposed Rail Roko programme of protesting farmers.
Chahar, Lok Sabha MP from UP s Fatehpur Sikri constituency, said that BJP will reach out to farmers and clear their confusion about farm laws and tell them about the benefits of the agricultural reforms brought by Modi government.
