Haryana Police in Ambala district revoked the National Security Act (NSA), 1980 against farmers unions and protestors. The law was imposed due to daily attempts by unions to break barricades at the Shambhu border and damage to government and private property. The NSA allows for preventive detention in certain cases.
In an important development, a day after news broke that the Ambala police were invoking proceedings under the National Security Act (NSA) of 1980 against farmer leaders, the police are now reconsidering the same, said Ambala Superintendent of Police (SP) Jashandeep Singh Randhawa.
On Thursday night, the police in Ambala district had slapped NSA on farmer leaders and started the process to seize their properties and bank accounts after Punjab protesters damaged government and private properties
