GUWAHATI: The security scenario in Assam improved during 2020, reflects a latest report of MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs). The Centre s data indicate that only 15 insurgency-related incidents were reported from across Assam in 2020 – which is the lowest since 1999, when 451 such incidents were reported.
During 2020, five extremists died in encounters, 79 arrested, and 2,616 others surrendered. Some of the surrendered militants also handed over 421 firearms to the administration while security forces recovered 73 other firearms. The MHA report also states that two civilians were killed and two others were kidnapped that year.
On January 23, 2020, a total of 644 cadres surrendered their arms. Delhi: In yet another shocking incident of cybercrime from the National Capital, a 17-year-old boy has been apprehended after being found guilty of heinous cybercrime against a 20-year old woman. The woman, who is a trainee in an air hostess course, complained to the police that she allegedly was stalked, threatened, and harassed on social media by a class 12 student, who wanted sexual favours from her.
The matter came to light on Wednesday when the woman filed complaints in the police station that she was being by the boy on popular social media handle Instagram, and also complained that the boy sent her vulgar messages on a social media messaging app called Messenger, where he insisted her to have a sexual relationship with him.

Guwahati : The Gauhati High Court has rejected the bail plea of the 5 accused in connection with the October 30th, 2008 Assam serial bomb blasts. Assam militant leader and the Chief of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) Ranjan Daimary, amongst the other accused, was the mastermind behind the serial bomb blasts that claimed over a hundred lives and injured over four hundred people. The bomb blasts took place in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, and Barpeta Road, totally shaking up the conscience of Assam to its very core.

GUWAHATI: A total of 1,040 cadre of five militant groups active in Karbi Anglong district of Assam surrendered before chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The groups are People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), Karbi Longri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF), Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT), Kuki Liberation Front (KLF) and United People’s Liberation Army (UPLA).
A total of 338 arms surrendered before the chief minister.
