Yolo, Sutter sheriff s offices searching for man missing on Sacramento River

KNIGHTS LANDING, Calif. The Yolo County Sheriff s Office marine patrol unit is helping search for a man who went missing in the Sacramento River on Wednesday.
The Yolo County Sheriff s Office said on Facebook that they are helping the Sutter County Sheriff s Office with a search and rescue mission near Knights Landing of 18-year-old Ahmir Watson.
The sheriff s dispatch center got a call about Watson around 3:30 p.m. on July 28. The caller said that Watson was swimming in the Sacramento River near 3rd Beach on the Sutter County side of the river. He was trying to rescue a juvenile swimmer that was in distress, according to the Yolo County Sheriff s Office.
Yolo County couple indicted on federal mail-fraud charges

A 12-count indictment was unsealed last week charging West Sacramento residents Kimberly Acevedo, 50, and Philip Rich, 49, with mail fraud, aggravated identity theft, possession of stolen mail, and unlawful possession of 15 or more unauthorized access devices, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
According to the indictment, between March 2019 and March 2021, Acevedo and Rich perpetrated a mail fraud scheme that involved theft of U.S. mail, identity theft and unlawful possession of dozens of stolen bank cards.
Generally, Acevedo and Rich obtained the personally identifiable information (PII) of victims and used that information to apply for new credit cards, debit cards, checkbooks and other financial instruments to be sent to the victims’ real home addresses.

GUINDA, Calif. - An attempted burglary in Northern California turned sour for a pair of intruders when the homeowner shot them, killing one and injuring the other.
The homeowner fought back when two people broke into his home in Guinda shortly after 9 p.m., killing a male suspect while a female suspect survived. The surviving suspect was taken to a local hospital with a serious injury. He did not go out to confront these people, Lt. Gary Hallenbeck with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said. He stayed in the house, and eventually, these people came into the residence.
