UC Davis seeks input on campus safety reforms
Virtual town halls are scheduled throughout winter quarter
After the police killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others last year, UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May convened a task force to examine public safety on campus and to make recommendations for potential reforms.
The Task Force on Next Generation Reforms to Advance Campus Safety delivered its preliminary report to the chancellor in December and recently released it to the public. This quarter, the task force is seeking input from the campus community and the general public through a series of virtual town hall events, focus groups and a survey.

An Orange County consulting firm and a wealthy Bay Area couple donated a combined $600,000 to efforts to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom, but recall organizers say they won t receive a dime of that money.
The California Patriot Coalition is the main group behind the recall effort that manages the RecallGavin2020.com website where official recall petitions can be printed out and mailed in. The group that received the contributions, however, is Rescue California, a high-profile political action committee that is merely assisting the main recall efforts, not leading it. That $600,000 donation is now fueling a spat between the two groups.
