Mass queues have swamped testing sites in the regional Victorian city of Mildura after a man became its first COVID-19 case more than a year.
The Mildura man s infection was reported yesterday but was included in today s coronavirus figures, with his household contact also testing positive.
The man in his 30s attended an MCG match between Carlton and Geelong on July 10, watching the game in the MCC section.
He then returned home to Mildura where he developed symptoms and tested positive to COVID-19 on Sunday.

Victoria’s Department of Health confirmed that the new cases were all linked to current outbreaks.
The state’s snap five-day lockdown – the fifth for Melbourne – appears likely to extend past tomorrow, meaning that Victorians will continue to be confined to their homes for several more days as the lockdown is likely to be extended until Friday, possibly longer.
“We will wait and try to strike that very difficult balance between giving people some notice but having the most complete picture from an epidemiological point of view,” Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews said.
“Time is your friend in some respects. The more time you have, the more data you have, and you have a better understanding of the spread of the virus and the greater assessment you can make in relation to risk.”
