:A recent paper by researchers from St John’s Medical College and Sitaram Bhartia Institute of Science and Research has found that, in India, metabolic indicators of obesity (abnormal blood sugar or blood lipids) are seen well before the child becomes obviously overweight by anthropometry.

New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): Continuing its emergency support to India s COVID-19 pandemic response, United Nations Children s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has provided 26 oxygen plants to India and over 4,500 oxygen concentrators and 200 RT-PCR testing machines have already been delivered or are being delivered.
UNICEF is helping in installation of nine oxygen generating plants across hospitals in Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura. All 26 oxygen generating plants are for installation in hospitals in Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Nagaland, Maharashtra, Meghalaya and Tripura.
Minister, Unicef officials discuss child protection law

LAHORE:The Department of Social Welfare and Baitul Maal (SW&BM) and Unicef have agreed to appoint a technical consultant to review provisions of the proposed law on child protection.
A Unicef delegation called on Punjab Minister for Social Welfare Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari here on Tuesday and made suggestions on the draft law. Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Punjab Secretary Hassan Iqbal also attended the meeting and solicited project proposals from Unicef. “Draft act would be finalised after comprehensive deliberations of all stakeholders,” said the minister. Bukhari observed that capacity building of SW&BM was of utmost importance before taking over the subject of child protection. He urged that making legal framework on fast track was necessary to ensure elimination of child abuse and their welfare.
