This is not the first time a company in Singapore has drawn flak for misrepresenting a particular race or culture The conversation around diversity and inclusion has never been more prevalent in the US and EMEA, and in Asia Pacific, the topic is getting bigger and gaining more attention. The Drum takes a look at why it is hard for brands in Singapore to get their ads culturally right. In April, Singapore-based e-commerce platform ShopBack released a video to promote its mega sale and cashback mechanisms. It featured brand ambassador and local comedian Kumar and TikTok influencer Kevin Tristan dancing to an eclectic beat.

MoneyOwl shifts gears from tactical marketing to brand building Details 19 February 2021 Local financial advisor MoneyOwl has unveiled its first brand campaign to create brand awareness. Although it has been doing tactical campaigns for its products since it started in 2019, MoneyOwl is now shifting gears and looking to build its brand with the everyday Singaporean consumer.  MoneyOwl is a joint venture between NTUC Enterprise Co-operative and wealth advisory firm, Providend, that aims to help working-class people in Singapore to make wise financial decisions. It target audiences are split into three segments: single young professionals aged 24 to 30 and have just started their careers; young family starters aged 31 to 45 with ideally SG$10k to invest; and pre-retirees aged 45 to 65 who are focused on sustaining their lifestyle in their non-income earning years.

This breakthrough could help researchers further their study of bone biology and assist in improving development of drugs for osteoporosis. Published in Science Advances, the researchers developed a new biomaterial they call demineralized bone paper. The team includes Jungwoo Lee, Yongkuk Park, Ryan Carpenter, chemical engineering; Eugene Cheong, biochemistry and microbiology; Jun-Goo Kwak, molecular and cellular biology graduate program; and Jae-Hyuck Shim of the UMass Medical School in Worcester.
