YSRCP MP seeks police protection Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA YSR Congress Party MP from Narasapuram K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju has written a letter to Director General of Police D. Gautam Sawang seeking protection (during his visit to the constituency) from a section of the Christian community, whom he has accused of misusing reservation and welfare schemes meant for the Scheduled Castes. Mr. Ramakrishna Raju stated that he had taken the alleged misuse of reservation and welfare schemes to the notice of the Prime Minister and sought appropriate action. He alleged that a spate of complaints had been lodged against him with the police at the behest and with the active cooperation of the State government in order to take him into custody upon his reaching the constituency.

Feb 10, 2021, 15:58 IST Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Election 2021 Phase 1 Results: The results of the first phase of Gram Panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh were released after counting started at 4 PM on Tuesday. The first phase of polling for 2,723 panchayats in Andhra Pradesh ended peacefully with 81.78 per cent turnout, where Krishna District recorded the highest percentage of 85.06,as per reports which came out in the evening. Elections were to be held for 3,249 posts of panchayat sarpanches and to elect 20,157 ward members. According to the Panchayat Raj department, since 525 were unanimously elected and no nomination was filed for a village in Nellore district, polls were held for 2,723 panchayats.

Frame rules to give Indian consultancy firm preference in contracts: Demand in RS NEW DELHI: A demand to frame rules giving Indian consultancy companies preference in contracts on the lines of the new US federal spending policy was made in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. Raising the issue through a zero hour mention, BJP’s Vinay P Sahasrabuddhe said the new US President Joe Biden last month asked federal agencies to purchase products and services produced in America. The government of India, too, should frame a new policy giving preference to Indian consultancy firms over foreign entities. Local consultancy often lose out to foreign firms due to eligibility criteria requiring certain experience, he said.
