Karnataka govt mulls to drop paras from text book that hurt sentiments of Brahmins

Bengaluru, Dec 17: Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar on Thursday directed the Commissioner for Public Instruction (CPI) to take steps to drop relevant paras from the Class VI Social Science text book which are deemed to be insinuating remarks against the “Brahmin” community.
In his note, Kumar said that the paras which appear in page number 82 and 83 are irrelevant and not suitable for such a young age. “The CPI must take steps to issue a circular to drop this lesson from the syllabus with immediate effect,” he stated in his note.
Ex-Karnataka Minister Renuka Rajendran passes away

Bengaluru, Dec 16: Former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader Renuka Rajendran died in a private hospital last night due to age related illness. She was 78.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Rajendran served as Minister for Sericulture in former Chief Minister Gundurao s cabinet.
Recently, she had recovered from the Covid-19. She had represented Chikkaballapur Assembly constituency thrice and had won last in 1989.
According to family sources on Wednesday the last rites will be held later in the evening.
