Thieves steal Go Kart from 7-year-old Illinois boy
Police are searching for thieves who stole a Go Kart from a 7-year-old in Lake in the Hills.
McHENRY Co. - A northwest suburban 7-year-old boy is having to hit the brakes on his Go Kart racing career because thieves stole his expensive gear. My dream is to travel all over the world, said Grayson Dean Walcott, a competitive Go Karter who right now races across the country.
Grayson came home from racing in California last week to find his trailer – loaded with a Go Kart, kart parts, tools and memorabilia – missing. Someone stole the trailer from a private parking lot near Pyott Road and Imhoff Drive in Lake in the Hills.

(Fargo, ND) While on patrol this summer, North Dakota law enforcement agencies will be looking for kids wearing helmets. If caught, a child may find themselves making a trip to a local DQ restaurant.
As part of AAA’s “I Got Caught” campaign, as many as 12,000 North Dakota youth will be written a ‘citation’ for a free small ice cream cone for wearing a helmet while biking, skateboarding or in-line skating.
“We want to encourage youth to wear a helmet in hopes they develop a lifelong appreciation for safety,” said Gene LaDoucer, North Dakota spokesman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “Program sponsors enjoy providing positive reinforcement to youth and hope parents will take the next step in modeling the desired habit of wearing helmets themselves.”
McHenry Outdoor Theater reopens
The McHenry Outdoor Theater is back in business, with some looser COVID-19 protocols.
McHENRY Co. - Grab the kids and come on out to the McHenry Outdoor Theater. More than 200 cars visited Friday.
The McHenry Outdoor Theater is one of few permanent drive-in locations still operating in the Chicagoland area. Last year, they opened briefly with many restrictions in place. But on Friday, things felt a little more like normal.
At the outdoor theater, there is a new projector screen and fewer COVID-19 rules in place. Folks had their lawn chairs out and lots of snacks on hand.
