Northern communities receive funding to help support flood mitigation

CFNR Network Feb 16, 2021 12:41 PM Four communities in the Northern and Interior regions of B.C. have been approved to receive funding to support flood mitigation. The funding is more than $8.5 million and will support structural flood mitigation projects, improve the communities ability to be resilient and prepared in an emergency. The communities receiving the funding are , Dawson Creek, Williams Lake, Vernon and Sparwood. As an example of work that will be taking place as a result of this fund, Vernon has been approved to receive $747,000 to construct a sedimentation pond. Dawson Creek is set to receive $750,000 to replace the 102nd Avenue Crossing. Williams Lake will be getting $750,000 as well for the River Valley Wastewater Treatment Plan/Jackpine Slide Erosion Protection.
