Woman arrested for deadly DUI crash that killed 79-year-old man in Fort Myers

Fort Myers Police Department arrested Anna Marie Reagan, 37, Thursday for drunk driving and causing a crash in 2020 that later caused the death of a man involved at the beginning of 2021.
According to an FMPD press release, police responded to a four-vehicle crash that happened close to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020 in the area of Ortiz Avenue and Eastwood Greens Street.
Victim David Edwin Donaldson, 79, who was also involved in the crash, was critically injured and later died of his injuries Saturday Jan. 23, 2021.
FMPD: Officer will return to duty full-time with conclusion of federal investigation

An officer who has waited four years to get back on the force is seeing that hope come to fruition.
Fort Myers Police Department confirmed Tuesday Officer Jason Jackson will return to duty full-time, following the conclusion of an investigation by The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Florida. There were no charges brought against Jackson or the three other officers who were investigated.
According to an FMPD press release, the police department officially confirmed Officer Jackson is no longer under criminal investigation by the federal government.

Former out-of-state officer arrested for possession of child pornography

Fort Myers Police Department said Tuesday a joint arrest was made in Fort Myers of a former police officer from out of state for possession of child porn. This suspect never served with FMPD and has no affiliation with the police department.
Former policeman George Joseph Gartner was brought into custody after FMPD and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security searched a residence off Camarelle Circle, and investigators found probable cause to make an arrest.
FMPD says it received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to possession of child porn. They were able to secure and execute a search warrant at the home where Gartner was arrested.
