And as for San Francisco Mayor London Breed s recent proclamation declaring Lily Lo Day in San Francisco, she deadpanned: I hate to say that but it s just a piece of paper. Despite her aversion to recognition, Lo s gift for pushing paper has turned the credit union manager into a sort of local folk hero in Chinatown. During the pandemic, she toiled in her spare time helping dozens of businesses apply for federal aid that helped them survive the economic free fall.

Bit passed away Nov. 17, 2020, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was 82. Visitation is set for 11 a.m., with the service beginning at noon. The Rev. Jack Cox will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Morris County. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home.

Beloved SF Chinatown shops join pop-up series at Ferry Building Susana Guerrero Four of Chinatown’s most cherished businesses are heading to the Ferry Building this month for a special pop-up series. Throughout March, the Chinatown Kite Shop, China Live, Dragon Papa Dessert and Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory will set up shop within the Ferry Building where they will offer some of their most iconic goods. The Ferry Building hopes the pop-up will highlight each small business and remind locals to shop local. Kevin Chan, the owner of the longstanding Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, told SFGATE that “it’s an honor” to be part of the monthlong series.
