Beloved SF Chinatown shops join pop-up series at Ferry Building Susana Guerrero Four of Chinatown’s most cherished businesses are heading to the Ferry Building this month for a special pop-up series. Throughout March, the Chinatown Kite Shop, China Live, Dragon Papa Dessert and Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory will set up shop within the Ferry Building where they will offer some of their most iconic goods. The Ferry Building hopes the pop-up will highlight each small business and remind locals to shop local. Kevin Chan, the owner of the longstanding Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, told SFGATE that “it’s an honor” to be part of the monthlong series.

Throughout the month of March, the Ferry Building will host a series of weekend pop-ups featuring some of Chinatown s most beloved small businesses. A portion of proceeds from sales will go toward San Francisco Community Business Resources, a nonprofit organization providing business resources, information, and collaboration to various small businesses and other nonprofits throughout the city. In celebration of the pop-up series, two gates inside the Ferry Building Marketplace have been decked out with décor provided by Chinatown shops specializing in handmade decorations and lanterns. Featured merchants include: Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, a Chinatown institution since 1962 Dragon Papa Candy, a purveyor of specialty candy made from sticky strands of molasses wrapped neatly around a bundle of crushed peanuts
