Evanston’s seniors put the fun back in football Friday night in what could be their final appearance at Lazier Field, bouncing back from devastating losses to Maine South and New Trier to demolish Niles West 46-6 in a running clock victory.
Two-way lineman Zach Myers, an Air Force Academy recruit, scored the first offensive touchdown of his career and Connor Groff caught a 1-yard TD pass from his sophomore brother, Dylan, as part of the celebration as Evanston improved to 2-2 on the season.

In almost 50 years of head-to-head competition, the girls volleyball teams from Evanston and New Trier have never played a doubleheader.
So the two rivals made some history Saturday morning at Beardsley Gym. But the outcome - a New Trier win - was just as predictable despite the unusual circumstances.
The Trevians continued their dominance of the rivalry in a twin bill caused by the rescheduling of matches due to the fact that two members of the Wildkits tested positive for the coronavirus earlier in the week. New Trier scored a 25-8, 25-16 triumph in the opener, but the hosts played better the second time around in a 25-12, 25-12 defeat.

A severe bone bruise to the ankle in a gymnastics meet on Feb. 16 had forced all-state Glenbrook South senior Sheena Graham to ditch her floor exercise and vault routines and try her best performing on uneven bars and balance beam. Graham s effort was more than enough on March 6 at the virtual Central Suburban League South meet, which also served as the Titans senior night. Despite the injury, Graham won both her events, and with teammates such as all-around winner Thalia Skoulikaris, led Glenbrook South to a repeat CSL South title. A Titans co-captain, Graham also repeated as conference champion on beam, scoring a 9.55, and won her other event, bars, at 9.40. The all-around winner at both her 2020 regional and sectional meets and tied for sixth in all-around at the 2020 state meet, Graham will compete in college at Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Listed at 6 feet, 4 inches, Ciara Gentle is already the tallest player in the history of the Evanston girls basketball program.
Just how much on an impact she will make in the future is still a question. But behind Gentle and Taija Banks, two sophomores with perhaps the most up-side as far as talent on the varsity roster, the Wildkits rolled over Highland Park 52-18 Tuesday in a Central Suburban League crossover contest.
Gentle scored a career-high 11 points and added 6 rebounds while Banks, slowed because of knee surgery for the past year and a half, logged major minutes in the blowout and netted a career-best 8 points.
