Historic Hewitt home burns
Forty firefighters fought the flames Thursday in attempts to protect the piece of Fresno history.
The boarded-up, vacant home was a property on the local register of historic resources. The Hewitt Home was built in 1891 by a Fresno farmer.
Kevin Enns-Rempel with HistoricFresno.org says it’s hard to find homes older than the one that once stood on the corner of Illinois and Diana St.
“Given how many buildings like the Hewitt home we have torn down over the years to make room for the new and shiny things, makes it even more crucial that we try our best to not lose the few that are left.,” said Enns-Rempel.

Fresno Greek Fest serves more than 700 meals at drive-thru event

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) The Central Valley is saying OPA! because Greek Fest To-Go is continuing its drive-thru series this year.
Members of Saint George s Greek Orthodox church, in Central Fresno, spent Saturday preparing more than 700 meals for locals to enjoy.
The group hasn t been able to host its annual Greek Fest event for more than a year now so they ve instead turned to host these drive-thru sales every other month.
Greek Fest organizers say the past year has been a challenge.
While they re looking forward to resuming in-person events, they are happy the drive-thru has still kept the community enjoying some classic Greek food.
19-year-old shot in central Fresno, police searching for suspect
Fresno police are searching for the suspect who shot a 19-year-old man in central Fresno on Monday morning.

It happened at San Pablo and McKinley Avenues just before 1:00 am.
Officers say the man was shot in the upper body. He was taken to a Fresno hospital and is expected to recover.
Investigators found two shell casings and say the suspect was last seen headed for Blackstone Avenue. No description has been provided.
Police interviewed witnesses and looked for surveillance videos that may have captured the attack.
Officials have not yet determined a motive for the attack.
