Scotland’s first legalised cannabis clinic has been endorsed by one of the SNP’s most senior members, after it welcomed hundreds of patients in its first week of opening. In March 2021, it was announced Scotland was to get its first medical cannabis clinic, after receiving approval from regulators. Sapphire Medical Clinic, based in Stirling, is the first medical cannabis clinic to be approved by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), and will provide safe access to medical cannabis for patients in Scotland. In its very first week, the clinic welcomed more than 500 new patients across Scotland via remote telemedicine consultations. However, once Covid restrictions are lifted, the clinic will also offer Scottish patient’s face-to-face appointments in the city of Stirling.

Scotland’s first medical cannabis clinic, which was initially slated for Aberdeen, has welcomed more than 500 patients in its first week.
The Sapphire Medical facility in Stirling has been carrying out virtual consultations following approval from Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
At the time, NHS Grampian chiefs raised concerns the medical cannabis clinic would lead to GPs’ time being used to funnel patients into private healthcare.
MiNA Therapeutics Presents Translational Data at AACR Supporting MTL-CEBPA as Immunological Cancer Combination Treatment
MiNA Therapeutics, the pioneer in RNA activation (RNAa) therapeutics, today announced translational data supporting the favourable immunological effects of MTL-CEBPA and its benefits in combination with other cancer therapies including anti-PD1 checkpoint inhibition. The studies combine pre-clinical research conducted at the Wistar Institute as well as biomarker analysis of the previously completed OUTREACH clinical trial. MTL-CEBPA is the first candidate from MiNA s pipeline of small activating RNA therapeutics, a new class of medicines to restore normal cell function. The data will be presented during a poster session at the 2021 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting, held virtually from April 10 April 15, 2021.
