Fingers crossed for Offaly Hospice 100k run

THEY have had a number of false starts but now it looks like a 100k event planned for over two days just might go ahead.
The run, which is in aid of Offaly Hospice, was originally to have taken place earlier in the year but Covid called a halt to plans on no less than two occasions.
Now six intrepid runners led by John Bennett, have their fingers crossed for May 22 and 23.
They include Will Faulkner of Midlands 103, Noel Flynn Kilcormac, Vinnie Devery, Ferbane, Pat Hill, Pollough, Michael Melia, Michael Guinan and John Bennett all from Cloghan.

CUSTER COUNTY With Custer County District Judge Karin Noakes in quarantine, cases were held remotely on Thursday, January 21.
The first criminal case of the morning was Trenton Esch, 44 of Broken Bow, who is facing alleged charges of first-degree murder (class IA felony), use of a firearm during the commission of a felony (class IC felony), and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (class ID felony).
During the telephonic hearing, Esch’s attorney, James Martin Davis, asked the court to continue the case as depositions along with other trial matters had not been completed by Davis or Special Deputy County Attorney Michael Guinan from the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.
The rewetting of bogs won t damage adjoining farmland IFA President Tim Cullinan has said.
Speaking at an IFA Leinster meeting this week, Cullinan said IFA had met with Bord an Mona in recent weeks and received a commitment that it (resetting) will not damage adjoining farmland.
According to Cullinan Bord na Mona explained there will be a drain running the perimeter of a bog that farmland will drain into.
He also said that a working group is to be established out of the meeting. We got the offer of a working group. So we have work in progress at the moment and a number of our people will go on a working group with Bord na Mona to ensure, number one, this work will be carried out properly and won t affect farmers on the ground.
