Sheldon Green of Lompoc, 1931-2021

By | 11:22 a.m. Sheldon Green was born on Nov. 17, 1931 in Ganado, Texas, to Frank and Opal Green. He had a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, LaVina. Sheldon grew up riding horses, jumping out of trees, fishing and hunting, playing football, and drawing cartoons. He spent four years in the Navy including a 14-month deployment to Japan and Korea. While on leave, he flew back to Kansas, where he married Pat on June 6, 1951. After leaving the Navy, he took a job at Boeing while also attending Wichita State. It was during this time that he bought his first plane for $450 complete with an oil leak and a hole in the windshield. He learned to fly and would often use the plane to go duck hunting, landing next to ponds when he spotted flocks of ducks.

Farm Bureau donates $1,000 each to 4 local organizations

Four local organizations recently received an early Christmas present of $1,000 each from Christian County Farm Bureau Association to help feed people in need during the coronavirus pandemic. Representatives from the Salvation Army, Aaron McNeil House, Impact Ministry and Micah Mission collected their organization’s checks recently at Farm Bureau’s Burley Avenue location. “Especially this time of the year and with the pandemic, it is very important to help out the local community,” said J.E. Pryor, farm bureau president. “I know there are many people out there who are suffering because of the pandemic. We want to try to help as many as we can.”

Farm Bureau Donates To Christian County Organizations

The Christian County Farm Bureau recently donated to four community organizations that are tasked with feeding the hungry and helping people in the community. Farm Bureau President J. E. Pryor and other county board members presented $1,000 checks to Salvation Army, Aaron McNeil House, Micah Mission, and Impact Ministry.
