I’d see him riding his bike or scooting up and down the street on a scooter. One day, he rang our doorbell, asked if he could play with my son. It was a proud ‘daddy’ moment for me: the first time my son went out to play with a friend. No play date, just a ring of the bell. Old school.  We lived on a busy corner, so it was rare for this sort of thing to happen. Our front lawn was framed by an intersection, and one of the busier residential streets in town. Our house looked out at greenspace. There was plenty of passing cars, people walking dogs and loud motorcycles on Saturday mornings. Sentinel Correspondent TRUMAN It’s time to register for the Strategic Farming: Let’s talk crops program. Sessions will be held over Zoom, which can be accessed via your computer, phone or other mobile device. These sessions will run from 8:30-9 a.m. every Wednesday and are very informal, discussing key issues and questions facing Minnesota corn and soybean farmers today. For more details on each session and to register, go to, https://z.umn.edu/strategic-farming. You need only register once for the whole program series. Not able to attend a day? No problem. Sessions will be recorded and posted for viewing later at your convenience. If you are not familiar with Zoom, details will be included at registration on how to access the session your computer (all you need is the link) or mobile device. These programs are being offered at no charge, thanks to support from the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council.

Farm Bureau donates $1,000 each to 4 local organizations

Four local organizations recently received an early Christmas present of $1,000 each from Christian County Farm Bureau Association to help feed people in need during the coronavirus pandemic. Representatives from the Salvation Army, Aaron McNeil House, Impact Ministry and Micah Mission collected their organization’s checks recently at Farm Bureau’s Burley Avenue location. “Especially this time of the year and with the pandemic, it is very important to help out the local community,” said J.E. Pryor, farm bureau president. “I know there are many people out there who are suffering because of the pandemic. We want to try to help as many as we can.”

Farm Bureau Donates To Christian County Organizations

The Christian County Farm Bureau recently donated to four community organizations that are tasked with feeding the hungry and helping people in the community. Farm Bureau President J. E. Pryor and other county board members presented $1,000 checks to Salvation Army, Aaron McNeil House, Micah Mission, and Impact Ministry.
