HOLMDEL, NJ - The show will go on this year as Holmdel Theatre Guild (HTG) presents a streamed performance of their winter musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid. This production marks a triumphant return to the stage for members of the drama club at Holmdel High School after last year’s production was postponed on opening night, and eventually cancelled, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Guild planned to present a live performance in the HHS auditorium, but quickly shifted to a recorded performance after mounting difficulties made that impossible. “This show is a testament to the collaborative spirit of theatre and the passion and joy that theatre students at Holmdel High School bring to their art,” said director and district Theatre teacher, Dr. Jim DeVivo. “We made a promise to each other at the beginning of the year that no matter what, no matter when, and no matter how, the show will go on

The University of Washington’s Hans Rosling Center for Population Health on the Seattle campus is complete and awaiting the return of students, faculty and staff to the new 300,000-square-foot building.
The first UW project of its size to use the progressive design-build delivery approach, the building features spaces for collaborative group work, active learning, offices and training spaces for population health sciences programs, including the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, the Department of Global Health, portions of the School of Public Health and the university’s Population Health Initiative.

Godfrey 3-1-1 is an app for your smartphone that allows you to easily report potholes, broken street lights and other issues within Godfrey. It also allows users to receive village alerts, such as boil water orders, and it gives users instant access to activity calendars and email for village officials.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick tells the Big Z the app has been active for a couple of years and hopes to get more people to use it.

State Representative Amy Elik (R-Fosterburg) has filed two House Joint Resolutions last week on behalf of Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick, to honor the lives of two deceased Godfrey community leaders.
House Joint Resolutions 25 and 26 would create two memorial highways in Godfrey to honor Captain Jake Ringering and Eldon “Twirp” Williams, respectively.

Captain Jake Ringering of the Godfrey Fire Protection District lost his life in a structure fire in Godfrey in March of 2019. Eldon “Twirp” Williams was murdered at a home on West Delmar in Alton in October of 2018, in an act of random violence by Donald M. Nelson, who is now serving a 70+ year sentence.
