The Richmond Police Department on Wednesday announced it is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and charges of the person responsible for the murder of Terrell Roberts, an El Cerrito High graduate and football star who played defensive back in the NFL.
At about 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 11, Roberts, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2003-2005, was fatally shot at his grandmother’s home in the 1200 block of Fascination Circle, police said. The 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the days following the murder, detectives learned an unknown person came to the home to meet with Roberts and a dispute occurred during which Roberts was shot.

Police seek witnesses to fatal Richmond shooting [East Bay Times]
Dec. 17 OAKLAND Police said they are asking for the public’s help in finding witnesses and other information that might help solve a fatal shooting, authorities said Wednesday.
In a statement, police said officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 300 block of 25th Street and learned while en route that a gunshot victim had been found.
Officers arrived to find a 60-year-old man sitting in his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite emergency life-saving measures from officers, Richmond Fire Department firefighters and paramedics, the man, later identified as Danny Mitchell, 60, of Richmond, was pronounced dead after being taken to a trauma center.

Richmond police on Thursday searched for witnesses in the shooting death of a 60-year-old man they said was gunned down in broad daylight while sitting in his car in the city’s busy downtown Wednesday afternoon.
Richmond police sensors detected shots fired at 12:47 p.m. in the 300 block of 25th Street, a bustling commercial area near the Richmond Civic Center Plaza. Officers found a man sitting in his car with gunshot wounds, police said.
Richmond police seeking witnesses of broad daylight homicide shooting

RICHMOND, Calif. - Richmond police investigating a homicide are looking for witnesses of a broad daylight shooting on Wednesday.
ShotSpotter activity was detected at the 300 block of 25th Street at Macdonald Avenue at 12:47 p.m. Arriving officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside his vehicle. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police identified the victim as Danny Ray Mitchell, 60, a Richmond resident.
The police department s homicide unit is investigating.
Police have noted this is a busy commercial area, normally bustling with pedestrians and motorists. They believe there are witnesses that they have not yet spoken with and are asking anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity to come forward.
