PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Two people have been displaced after a fire in Portsmouth Wednesday evening.
According to officials with Portsmouth Fire Rescue, the call came in at 6:16 p.m. for a fire at 37 Merrimac Drive. When crews arrived, they found light smoke coming from a second-story window.
The fire was marked under control at 6:32 p.m. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is arranging housing for the displaced residents.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Portsmouth Fire Marshalâs Office.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a 35-year-old man in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Thursday in connection with a January murder in Portsmouth.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, Akime R. Porter was charged with murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Porter is accused of killing 32-year-old Tony Lamont Deans, who was found dead in the 20 block of Merrimac Drive with a gunshot wound to his upper body early in the morning on January 3.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. A man was killed in a Portsmouth shooting Sunday morning and police are looking for answers.
Portsmouth police were called Sunday, Jan. 2 around 12:13 a.m. to the 20th block of Merrimac Drive for a man who was shot in the upper body.
Officers and medics said when they got to the scene they found 32-year-old Tony Lamont Deans, who was pronounced dead.
