A 49-year-old man was killed Friday on Interstate 81 when he crossed the northbound lanes and hit a car headed south in Dauphin County, authorities said. Pennsylvania State Police said an unidentified Grantville man was driving north in West Hanover Township around 6:42 p.m., and for unknown reasons crossed the center median onto I-81 south at mile marker 75.3. One person was killed in a crash on I-81 south in West Hanover Township in Dauphin County Friday evening.
The crash happened near the Hershey and Manada Hill exit. All lanes of 81 south are currently shut down near Exit 77, said Pennsylvania State Police spokeswoman Megan Ammerman.
“All we know is it was immediately apparent that it was fatal and both southbound lanes of 81 south are shut down at 75.5 southbound,” said Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokeswoman Fritzi Schreffler.
