Blue Hill Congregational Church welcomes new pastor

The First Congregational Church of Blue Hill has a new pastor, the Rev. Lisa Durkee, who most recently worked as a chaplain in New Jersey.
Durkee has taught at schools in New Jersey, New York and India. She was a theology student, pastor and musician in Massachusetts, and she adopted her daughters in China. After many moves, she found herself as the new minister of the First Congregational Church on Jan. 1.
“All my life I wanted to live year-round in Maine,” she said. “The calling to this ministry brings together everything I’ve done and hope to do.”
Pioneer Valley Transit Authority planning Amherst to Worcester bus service along Route 9

AMHERST – Pioneer Valley Transit Authority is planning to add a new bus line – from Amherst to Worcester along Route 9 – and will be convening public hearings on this initiative, according to information made available on Wednesday.
“The route will begin in Amherst Center and end at Union Station in Worcester, with stops in most town centers in each community along the Route 9 corridor from Amherst to Worcester,” a report from a January PVTA meeting show.
This would include nine communities along the route.
“This route will operate as a commuter route with a different fare structure than typical PVTA routes. Fares on this route are proposed to range from $3.50 to $9.00 depending on the origin and destination,” the report says.
North Brookfield Savings Bank announces the promotion of five employees.
MEAGAN BROUSSEAU has been promoted to branch manager and will be based out of the West Brookfield Branch location. She has been in banking for 19 years. She will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the branch, overseeing the teller line, scheduling, account openings, and inputting loan applications.
JOSEPH RIBEIRO has been promoted to the role of assistant branch manager, individual retirement account specialist, and bank security officer and will be based out of the North Brookfield branch. He has been with the bank for three years. Ribeiro will be responsible for his previous duties as well as processing account openings and assisting branch management.
