Greene County Deputies Respond To Two Accidents Easter Sunday

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to two accidents on Easter Sunday. The first was reported at approximately 4:21 p.m. on Elizabeth and 9 th Streets in Grand Junction. Seventy-two-year-old Robert Kinnick of Grand Junction lost control of the 2015 Dodge Ram he was driving and struck a light pole. There was no mention of injuries in the official report, but Kinnick was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of financial liability. There was an estimated $1,000 in damage to the truck and it is estimated it will cost $800 to replace the light pole. The second report came in at approximately 11:57 p.m. on West Vest and Elm Streets on the south side of Jefferson. A 17-year-old female was driving a 2018 Ford Focus and struck a parked 2005 Chevrolet Impala. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Focus and $4,000 in damage to the Impala.

CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSES TRAFFIC ORDINANCE INVOLVING PORTION OF SOUTH MIAMI AVENUE

A lengthy discussion about a proposed traffic ordinance was held during the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, December 21. The proposed ordinance was changed from its original form to not allow parking on the west side to not allow parking on the east side of South Miami Avenue from West Vest to West Arrow Streets. Ward 4 Councilman Craig Thompson said he spent time connecting with residents on the stretch of the roadway.
