Man who verbally abused gardai in Limerick village has temporary release revoked

A SERIAL offender who was abusive and aggressive towards gardai while on temporary release from prison has had his release revoked.
Brendan O’Connor, 38, who has an address at Kylefea, Croom pleaded guilty to public order offences arising out of an incident near his home in the early hours of February 6, 2021.
Sergeant Noel Barry told Newcastle West Court gardai were dealing with another incident at around 3am when the defendant approached a marked patrol car and told the gardai to get the f out of town .

A LIMERICK man has been charged with possession of six stolen catalytic converters at a metal recycling facility in the city.
It is alleged that Richard Costello, 52, of Church Street, Askeaton presented the stolen goods at Limerick Metal Recycling Company, Ballysimon Road on January 24, 2020.
During a procedural hearing, Sergeant Noel Barry told Newcastle West Court a file had been prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and that the matter is to proceed summarily before the district court.
He said it will be alleged that Mr Costello received €450 for the catalytic converters but that they were worth more .

A WOMAN who stole groceries from her local supermarket on three separate occasions has been warned she will go to prison if she does not shape up .
Judge Mary Larkin issued the warning as she imposed a one-month suspended prison sentence on Sharon Lane, 29, of Cois na Feile, Abbeyfeale who pleaded guilty to theft charges.
Sergeant Noel Barry told Newcastle West Court the defendant stole various items from Twohig s Supervalu in the town on October 30, 2020, October 31, 2020 and January 7, 2021.
The goods, which had a total value of just over €110 were not recovered by gardai or the retailer.

Man charged with raping woman in Limerick town faces trial

A MAN who is accused of raping a woman in a Limerick town last summer is to be prosecuted on indictment before the Central Criminal Court.
The 23-year-old defendant appeared before Newcastle West Court earlier this week after he was arrested and charged with three offences relating to an incident at an address in West Limerick on August 15, last.
The Romanian national, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces two charges of rape and one of burglary.
Detective Garda Elaine O Keefe said he replied I didn t do it, it s not how she says it, when one of the charges was put to him.
