URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) A man arrested over the weekend on suspicion of first-degree murder in a woman’s death was the victim’s husband, police in suburban Des Moines said.
In a Monday news release, Urbandale police identified the woman as Mary Sample, 29, of Urbandale. Investigators said she was found in an Urbandale home around 6:45 p.m. Saturday suffering from severe head trauma. She died at the scene.
Police arrested her husband, Dustin Sample, 35, of Urbandale, on Sunday morning and charged with first-degree murder, officials said.

Updated: 12:14 PM CST Dec 14, 2020 The Urbandale Police Department on Monday identified the victim in a weekend homicide investigation as the wife of the suspect in the case.According to authorities, 35-year-old Urbandale resident Dustin Sample is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, 29-year-old Mary Sample.Urbandale police responded to the 4200 block of 90th Street around 6:45 p.m. Saturday following reports of a medical emergency.Upon arrival, police said responding officers found Mary Sample suffering head trauma. Police said she died at the scene.Investigators took Sample into custody without incident. He is being held in Polk County Jail without bond.
