Mother And Son Reunite To Write Their Latest Book Addressing Mental Health Challenges

Wyoming-based mother and son duo published their first fiction novel, titled A Divided Mind, together back in 2019. The book largely centers around topics and impacts of mental health. Now, Mary Billiter and Kyle Thomas are back with a sequel and shared how they got started as well as why this was important to them.

Award Recognizes Educators Using Innovative Ways To Incorporate Arts In Education

The award was established in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Education. The council s arts education specialist Mary Billiter said the award promotes awareness and appreciation of the arts. One of our goals is making arts fundamental to education, particularly in supporting our programs and our educators, and raising them and putting them in the focal point for the good work that they re doing, said Billiter. It also helps highlight educators creativity and leadership in education, Billiter said. The importance of art education is paramount to a full education for our students. And there are so many innovative practices our art educators are implementing right now that we really wanted to recognize, she said.

Wyoming Arts Council s Arts Learning Innovations Award nomination period is open

Nominations are open for the Wyoming Arts Council’s Arts Learning Innovations Award that recognizes a distinguished Wyoming arts educator. Nominations are accepted for educators in all artistic disciplines including, theater, dance, visual, literary, and performing arts. The Arts Learning Innovations Award seeks to celebrate a Wyoming K-12 arts educator who is utilizing new and innovative ways to incorporate arts in their classroom or in an online environment. Advertisement Wyoming licensed and certified arts educators in any art discipline – theater, dance, visual, literary and performing arts are eligible. Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination and educators that meet the criteria may nominate themselves. Applications are due by Aug. 16, 2021. Nominations are submitted through the online nomination form found here.

Call-in numbers announced for Community Support Grant panel meetings

The panel review meetings for the Wyoming Arts Council’s Community Support Grant (CSG) applications will be held online May 19-20. Applicants and the general public are invited to call in and listen to the panel review and discussion. Review of applications requesting operating and project support as well as arts learning funding will begin at 9 am on May 19.
