A Zoom with grandpa, a negative virus test result, the mastery of a new skill: Such hopeful notes were essential to weathering the prolonged COVID-19 limbo of the past year.
And now, spring brings us more high notes: an easing of mask restrictions, some warm and sunny weather and the gradual return of live music.
Jackson Holeâs Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir presents a spring concert it has titled âNotes of Hopeâ starting at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Center for the Artsâ amphitheater to the south of the performing arts pavilion. The volunteer community ensembleâs first performance in over a year will feature contemporary and traditional works of Americana, with the voices augmented by the Jackson Hole Brass Quintet and members of the Jackson Hole Symphony.

JACKSON, Wyo. (KIFI)-The Center for the Arts in Jackson has announced it will provide more than $225,000 in rent relief for organizations with facilities on the Center’s campus.
Funding for the program comes through a donation from the Lea Charitable Trust. It represents a 40% reduction on the already subsidized lease rates. It’s aimed at helping the organizations deal with the financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Center provides a home for more than 20 independent nonprofits. Most offer programs to enhance the cultural community of Jackson Hole. A group of founding visionaries starting planning the Center in the 1990’s. The Arts and Education Pavilion was opened in 2005 and the Center Theater opened in 2007.
Jackson Hole singers and instrumentalists will offer two nights of free virtual entertainment in the coming week.
The Cathedral Voices Chamber Choir, Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra and other volunteer community music ensembles will present âHarmony for the Holidaysâ at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
For Mondayâs âCaroling Sing-Along,â the groups will post lyrics to favorite seasonal songs on screen for folks to sing from wherever they may be.
Tuesdayâs âWinter Gala Concertâ will feature the Cathedral Voices along with the Jackson Hole Brass Quintet and the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra.
âWe many not be able to share music in person,â a statement from the volunteer community music organization said, âbut we can still make a joyful noise worth celebrating,â they said.
