A group of Macomb County women called Tuesday for Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido to resign, arguing he is unfit because of “inappropriate workplace behavior” and association with “sexual predators and their defenders.”
Three representatives of the Macomb Accountability Project, a self-described grassroots organization, called for the former state lawmaker to step down during a virtual news conference.
“We are calling for Peter Lucido to resign,” said one of the women, Emily Mellits of Washington Township.
“… We will not be silent any longer,” she said. “Enough is enough.”
Lucido, who faced multiple accusations of sexual harassment while serving in the state Senate, described the group s effort against him Tuesday as disingenuous and a ploy.
His deflection has been: âMy mother.â
âMy mother would be a great chief of staff and a great asset,â Lucido repeated to The Macomb Daily as to what he has told people. âShe knows exactly how I am thinking and how I react because of her motherly instincts.â

Lucido, of course, was joking that his 90-year-old mother, Anne, would be appointed.
But Anne Lucido might as well be appointed, for now, as Lucido is virtually mum on the topic.
âI have candidates,â he said.
He said he expects to announce the appointment late this coming week or the first week of January when he takes office. He said he will pick âthe best qualifiedâ person.
A 20-year-old man charged with felony murder in the death of his infant son is asking for Macomb County prosecutors to deviate from its no-plea policy in this type of case.
Attorney Richard Taylor, representing defendant Laquan K. Williams, submitted the request for a plea deal that could result in lower charges than felony murder and first-degree child abuse. Felony murder carries an automatic penalty of life in prison without parole.
Williamsâ 3-month-old son last April 10 was taken by ambulance from a Warren motel to Ascension Macomb Hospital in Warren and transferred to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he died from blunt-force trauma, according to Warren police.

The case of a man charged in the pedestrian death of a Shelby Township teen in 2019 remains on hold not only due to COVID-19 but the transitional period for the new Macomb County prosecutor to take office.
Albert Donadio and his attorney, Stephen Rabaut, appeared via Zoom on Monday at a pretrial hearing in Macomb Circuit Court for the case against Donadio for the June 2019 death of Anthony Jugo, 15, who was struck by Donadioâs car on 25 Mile Road west of Hayes Road.

Donadio, 35, of Shelby Township, is charged with operating while under the influence of drugs causing death and reckless driving causing death, both punishable by up to 15 years behind bars, and a lesser charge, moving violation causing death, a misdemeanor.
