If elected, Parma Heights’ first female council president would become the city’s first female mayor.
“I’ve always thought about running for mayor,” said Gallo, 42, a Strongsville native who has called Parma Heights home for 20 years. “I’ve always been prepared for it, especially being in the role of council president for the past eight years.
“I have the legislative experience as a former clerk of council for 10 years leading up to my appointment to City Council. Over the past five years, I’ve gained administrative experience.”

John W. “Jack” Clayton, 84, passed away at his home in Milford Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. He was born in Latrobe, Pa., Nov. 18, 1936, to the late Bud and Margaret Moore.
Jack proudly served his country for over 20 years with the U.S. Air Force in Michigan, Texas and Delaware and was a veteran of Vietnam. He worked as a production control scheduler at the Hydraulics Specialist and Instrumentalist School. Once stateside, he worked as an electrician for the City of Milford as well as holding many positions at General Foods, retiring from both places.
He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson. Jack was a founding member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club Delaware, serving as sergeant of arms (SOA).
He tested positive for COVID-19 days later, he said. I remember feeling sick while I worked there and telling them that I wanted to get out, said Michael Johnson, 27, who initially tested negative for the virus but later tested positive. And I remember them saying if I quit, I ll get written up. . So I just felt sick, and I just kept working.
Johnson s anecdote was one of several that Travis County inmates told during a hearing last Monday in which a lawyer argued that his client should be transferred to a different jail because Travis County s jail officials are not taking proper care of the people detained inside. Judge Selena Alvarenga did not reach a conclusion on that issue and will continue to hear testimony this week.
