PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio City Council later this month is expected to pass the 2021 budget, which currently includes hiring first responders and upgrading vehicles. “We’ve provided a draft budget with city council where they’re very comfortable with adding employees,” Parma Heights Mayor Michael P. Byrne said. “We have budgeted for two service department employees, three firefighters and one police officer.” Parma Heights City Council President Marie Gallo said the additional police officer and firefighters are replacements for retired personnel, with Finance/Personnel Director Katie Iaconis noting both the police and fire departments have been operating under-staffed.

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio Crews were busy last week at Nathan Hale Park where roughly half a dozen trees were removed in the northeast corner of the 24-acre site. “The city engineer informed the city that a minimal number of trees and brush needed removal in a corner of the park near a stream that borders our property and some of the homeowners,” Parma Heights Mayor Michael P. Byrne said.
