PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio City Council later this month is expected to pass the 2021 budget, which currently includes hiring first responders and upgrading vehicles. “We’ve provided a draft budget with city council where they’re very comfortable with adding employees,” Parma Heights Mayor Michael P. Byrne said. “We have budgeted for two service department employees, three firefighters and one police officer.” Parma Heights City Council President Marie Gallo said the additional police officer and firefighters are replacements for retired personnel, with Finance/Personnel Director Katie Iaconis noting both the police and fire departments have been operating under-staffed.
