WEST HARTFORD Republican Town Council member Mary Fay described it as a “benign” comment left on a friend’s Facebook page before the protest that turned violent in Washington.
But following the remark supporting former West Hartford Town Council member Joe Visconti as he prepared to attend the event and a statement released by Mayor Shari Cantor and town council minority leader Lee Gold, Fay said in a council meeting this week she’d become “a lightning rod for being threatened.”

A WOMAN who tried to intimidate a witness has been given a suspended prison sentence. Donna-Marie Fay, previously of Thornton Manor Drive, Ryde, now of Fort Mews, Sandown, admitted intimidating a witness, when she appeared before an Isle of Wight Crown Court judge on October 26. She was sentenced on Wednesday. The court heard previously that Fay, 32, offered to pay him for his silence as a witness in another man s assault case. She offered financial inducement between September 2 and 14. She was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. She must undertake 60 hours of unpaid work and attend 30 rehabilitation days.
