Having zero traffic-related deaths or serious injuries in a major city is a lofty goal, but Mayor Andrew J. Ginther said Tuesday he believes it is a goal worth striving for in Columbus.
Standing in a parking lot at the intersection of James Road and East Livingston Avenue Tuesday morning, Ginther said the city s Vision Zero Initiative will use data to identify the areas of Columbus and neighboring communities with the highest likelihood of traffic fatalities and work to resolve issues that could lead to serious crashes.
Among those changes are lowered speed limits in some areas, redesigning streets with all traffic including pedestrians and cyclists in mind, and working with the city s suburban neighbors to address the problem.
