Auburn quarterback Bo Nix to hold QB Elevate by Nix camp in Pinson

By Crystal McGough PINSON Former Pinson Valley High School football legend and current Auburn University quarterback Bo Nix will be returning to his hometown this month to host his first quarterback camp, “QB Elevate by Nix.” “I’m proud to say that he decided, along with his family … to bring that camp to Pinson, to Bo’s home school,” Pinson Mayor Joe Cochran said during the July 15 Pinson City Council meeting. “They could have had it at Hoover or any number of places that would’ve perhaps been easier for people to get to, but I’m glad they’re bringing it to Pinson.

Pinson council hears from local Miss Alabama contestant

Photo by Erik Harris After taking last year off due to COVID-19 concerns, Miss Alabama is back up for grabs in 2021. Johnson will compete alongside 38 others from June 10-12 at the historic Alabama Theater in Birmingham.  “I’ve known Lacey for several years and have grown very close with the family and I can’t think of a better example of a fine young lady from our community, we’re very proud,” said Mayor Joe Cochran during Tuesday night’s meeting. 

Shooting reported during robbery at off Pinson Valley Parkway

From The Tribune staff reports JEFFERSON COUNTY The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting and robbery at a business in the eastern part of the county. The incident happened on Monday, March 8, 2021, around 1:40 p.m. The business is in the 5200 block of Pinson Valley Parkway, which is in unincorporated Jefferson County. Pinson Mayor Joe Cochran said the incident happened at a Bingo Hall right outside the city limits of Pinson. He said the robber or robbers got away with only $30. Several deputies responded to the scene. No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made, according to Sgt. Joni Money.

City of Pinson, Pinson Helping Others, to host barbecue cook-off fundraiser Saturday for tornado victims

By Crystal McGough PINSON – During the regular Pinson City Council meeting Thursday, March 4, 2021, Mayor Joe Cochran reminded those in attendance that a fundraiser will be held at Bicentennial Park on Saturday, March 6, for the tornado victims at the Rusk and Wares mobile home parks. The fundraiser, a barbecue cook-off competition, will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., and there will be entertainment on the Bicentennial Park Stage throughout the event. “We met Monday evening at a local church down in Roebuck with the EMA, The United Way and Catholic Charities, and about 35 people from the mobile home park,” Cochran said, adding that United Way will place a case worker in the affected area and that committees are being put in place to make sure each resident gets the help they need. “Every Tuesday, we will interview people for their needs.”
