Tim Brewster is quickly turning UF into a university known for producing elite tight ends. Kyle Pitts thrived last season in the Gators offense. Now, it’s next man up for this year’s team. Keon Zipperer and Jonathan Odom should get the most playing time this year at tight end.

What makes a great tight end?
Coach Brewster talked about what he looks for in a tight end on the recruiting trail. Athletic was the word he kept using.
Also, he like his guys to be in the 6-foot-4 to 6-foot-7 range and can move. Kyle Pitts is 6-foot-6 246 pounds and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash.

The Florida Gators picked up their first commitment of the 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon when they picked up an out of state target.
2023 tight end Mac Markway (6-4, 250, St. Louis, MO. DeSmet) committed to Florida over Notre Dame and many others on Tuesday.
Markway visited Gainesville for the first time in June and during that trip he met with tight ends coach Tim Brewster for the first time and the assistant coach explained how the Gators could help his game.
“He said that I could be a guy that could do everything for them, I can be a mismatch on the line and in routes,” Markway said on the message from Brewster. “He would move me around like h-back, in-line and flexed. I take a lot of pride in being an all-around tight end and he explained how he could prepare me for the draft.”
