HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Florida-based nonprofit will be making its way to the Grand Strand to honor a fallen Horry County police officer.
The organization says Cartledge will run the mile at North Myrtle Beach High School on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. It also states that a strict mask mandate and a limited amount of people will be able to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive closer to 6 p.m.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel will be lit in blue Wednesday night in honor of an Horry County officer who was killed in the line of duty.
Horry County Police LCpl. Melton Gore was killed Tuesday night when he was hit by a car while removing debris from the roadway near the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 31, according to authorities.

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - As the Horry County community continues to mourn the loss of fallen police officer LCpl. Melton âFoxâ Gore, those who knew him best are remembering him.
âEvery time I run across somebody, they go âhey you look like Foxâ and I say âyea Iâm his twinâ and they go âGod what a great guyâ and that always made me feel great about him,â said Milton Gore, Goreâs twin brother.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - A nonprofit is now providing extra help to an officer with the Myrtle Beach Police Department who was injured in a shooting last October.
Wangstad had served for one year with MBPD prior to the shooting, according to officials.
Running 4 Heroes is based around 12-year-old Zechariah Cartledge, who runs with a flag to honor fallen officers across the country. The organization also says he will travel to Myrtle Beach this weekend to personally present Wangstad with the check.
