MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) â A popular oceanfront attraction is getting closer to reopening in Myrtle Beach.
A Wednesday photo post on the Myrtle Beach SkyWheelâs Facebook shows the attraction with more than half of its 42 gondolas âhanging back at their home.â
âSkyWheel Symmetry!â the post begins.
A Grand Strand staple enjoyed by tourists and locals alike, crews began dismantling the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel in January for upgrades and improvements to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel will be lit in blue Wednesday night in honor of an Horry County officer who was killed in the line of duty.
Horry County Police LCpl. Melton Gore was killed Tuesday night when he was hit by a car while removing debris from the roadway near the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 31, according to authorities.
