The innovation has been developed in Rochester, Kent, with engineers in the Electronic Systems business working with colleagues across the company’s Maritime and Air sectors.
Jon Tucker, director for maritime controls at BAE Systems Rochester, said: “With over 50 years of avionics experience, we already have a great understanding of how to develop complex, control systems for hi-tech platforms. However, taking our technology underwater brings exciting new challenges and we are proud to support the Dreadnought programme and play an important part in our national security effort.”
Work has already begun on the programme, which is supporting over 130 positions in Rochester, with more recruitment expected. The programme is one of the largest developmental projects taking place at the Rochester site where new investment has been made into new labs and workspaces.

The daughter of a man who died of Covid in the Medway Towns before the virus had been recognised in the UK, has called for her father to be officially acknowledged as Britain s first coronavirus victim.
Peter Attwood, 84, a retired accountant from Walderslade, passed away on January 30 last year at Medway Maritime Hospital after falling ill before Christmas with a cough and fever.

On the request of Jane Buckland, after studying her dad s symptoms, she asked for a post-mortem report which confirmed after lung tissue was examined that he had died from Covid-19.

Four county lines drug dealers supplying heroin and crack cocaine to the Medway Towns have been jailed.
Vincent Griffin, Andrew Evans, Mohammed Jahan and Saidul Islam were part of two organised county lines, which referred to themselves as the âYoungzâ and âSmokeyâ networks.

They were involved in supplying the substances between January and August 2020, with their offending brought to an abrupt end after police officers carried out a series of warrants across Chatham, Thanet, Brighton and east London.
