Medway Netball League founder Pamela Woolmer dies aged 90

The founder of the Medway Netball League has passed away at the age of 90.
Pam Woolmer, from Borstal, launched the league back in 1954. From just a handful of players, it grew to support a huge number of clubs with many of those original players seeing their daughters and granddaughters take up the sport.

Pam is survived by three of her children - Peter, Philip and Janet. Daughter Anne, 45, passed away in 2014 and Pam s husband Bob died in 2016.
She also had three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hospitals in Kent have recorded 50 additional coronavirus deaths - the highest number reported in a single day.

Of the deaths reported yesterday 30 happened at Medway Maritime Hospital, which cares for patients from the five Medway Towns as well as Sittingbourne and Sheppey.
While all 50 were reported by Kent s health trusts in a 24-hour period they happened at different points over the past weeks.
The figures relate to patients who have tested positive for the virus 28 days before their death.

A campaign group opposing plans for a garden village on farmland has grown from five members to 1,000 in just a week and its objections have already been voiced in the House of Commons.
Against Lidsing Garden Development was set up to fight proposals by Maidstone Borough Council to designate a large area in the parishes of Boxley and Bredhurst for a garden village of 2,000 homes in its Local Plan Review.

Although the area is officially in the borough of Maidstone, it is more closely connected to the Medway Towns than Maidstone, and the opposition group has already won the support of Tracey Crouch (Con), the MP for Chatham and Aylesford, and Rehman Chishti (Con), the MP for Gillingham and Rainham.
Police warning after van thieves target delivery drivers in the run up to Christmas

Delivery drivers are being urged to remain vigilant after a spate of van break-ins and assaults on couriers across Kent.
A number of incidents, which has seen thieves target drivers dropping off parcels, are being investigated by Kent Police.
