The organization also offers resources such as parenting support programs and nutritional guidance to young families.
Throughout the entire month, drop off new baby supplies at the Maritime Museum Wednesday through Friday between noon and 3 p.m., or by appointment any other day of the week. Amerigas, in partnership with the Hyannis Fire Department, performed a flaring operation between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday (Dec. 18) to burn off propane vapors in one of their bulk storage tanks at 198 Iyannough Rd. and Route 28.
The process will produce a 20-foot-high flame, which will be visible from many areas of Hyannis. Neighboring businesses and residents are in no immediate danger; this is scheduled maintenance, and the HyFD will be onsite.
Snow day!
Yesterday was a snow day for Barnstable students and staff. The district was closed for in-person and virtual learning. As of press time, school was scheduled to reopen in-person and virtually (depending on your cohort) Friday.
The school district switched to virtual learning as a coronavirus-prevention measure after Thanksgiving.
Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown says community spread of Covid-19 remains active in the town of Barnstable and the county, and that in order to keep schools safe and healthy, there will continue to be strict adherence to protocols.
Those include hand hygiene, mask-wearing, social-distancing and staying home if student or staff are sick.
