(MLive File Photo) Facebook Share The victim, who was not named, is expected to survive, Muskegon Heights police Chief Maurice Sain said. The shooting happened around 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the victim’s home near Waalkes Street and West Cleveland Avenue. The victim and another child found the gun. It did not contain a clip but police said there was a bullet in the chamber. The gun belonged to the victim’s mother, the chief said.

The 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

An 18-year-old Muskegon Heights woman, driving west on Summit Avenue, hit Heykoop, who pulled out in front of her, police said.
