The Murfreesboro City School Board on Feb. 9 approved Dukeâs contract to serve as superintendent after having voted Jan. 19 to offer him the job.
His official start date was March 1. Leading up to that time, Duke said, he had been working out of his principalâs office at Salem Elementary School and coordinating with the Central Office on time-sensitive matters such as the budget and the Tennessee Legislatureâs special session on education.
