He spent most of his career with the county school system, and he joined the city school system in time to guide the opening of a new building. Now, Trey Duke is embarking on a journey to lead Murfreesboro City Schools as superintendent.
The Murfreesboro City School Board on Feb. 9 approved Dukeâs contract to serve as superintendent after having voted Jan. 19 to offer him the job.
His official start date was March 1. Leading up to that time, Duke said, he had been working out of his principalâs office at Salem Elementary School and coordinating with the Central Office on time-sensitive matters such as the budget and the Tennessee Legislatureâs special session on education.
