A County Derry school girl has appeared in a two-part BBC drama.
Brooke McEldowney, a Primary One pupil at St Brigid s Tirkane/Bunscoil Naomh Bríd, has appeared in Three Families , which aired this week on BBC One. Three Families explores the emotive issues around women s rights and tells the story of the grassroots campaign to lift Northern Ireland s restrictions on abortion.

Brooke landed the role after her mum Kirsty received an email from a casting agency.

The new drama focuses on abortion in NI and how many women from the region used to travel to England to undergo the procedure.
Gwyneth Hughes two-part series Three Families, starring Irish actress Sinead Keenan, is set between 2013 and 2019.

Gwyneth Hughes is a screenwriter with a varied CV. Her credits include ITV’s adaptation of Vanity Fair, which was far better than the ratings suggested, and the Keeley Hawes drama Honour, which was far worse than audiences expected.
In
Three Families (BBC One), she has turned her attention to Northern Ireland’s restrictive abortion laws, and it is not one of her better efforts. It is from the producers of Three Girls, the BBC’s dramatisation of the Rochdale grooming gangs scandal, but nowhere near the same quality.
