KINY Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - An interagency assessment team consisting of borough and state officials was deployed to the region on Monday by the State Department of Military and Veteran Affair s Emergency Management Division following last week s 8.2 earthquake.
While the damage assessment team visited Perryville, Chignik Lagoon, and Chignik Bay to assess the impacts of quake, they also met with local officials. Those in the communities were relieved that there were no injuries and that there was minimal damage from the earthquake.
The damage that was observed by the team was a few cracks in drywall, some small cracks in the ground, and a slight shifting of homes. No damage to water and power generation or distribution were identified.
